The highlight of our day was the prolific variation of Western Australia’s WildFlowers, which included leopard and spider orchid, a red stemmed kangaroo paw and green leaves. We also spotted more whales breaching, a monitor lizard, western red kangaroos. Morning tea which was carried by Simon and enjoyed at a lovely shady canopy of melaleuca trees. Simon gave history talk on the discovery and settlement of Western Australia. The actual walking today was only 16klm, but an extremely varied walk along the escarpment, descending down to the beach where we did a short beach walk, before a steep incline on sand to the ridge with some rock hopping later in the day, arriving at our pick up point, greeted by Mike with the vehicle and our swimmers. After a refreshing swim we then drove to Swallows Welcome owned by Patricia and Tim Negus which was a very unique and quaint, who built their own home 21 years ago in mud brick, they even made the mud themselves, after building their home they built the flower Chappell to house her unique collection of Western Australian hand painted flowers.
