Our 2nd day on the Cape to Cape.
Today we all felt refreshed after a great night sleep, and a healthy breakfast cooked by our lovely guide Emily who multitasks as not only a guide but a cook.
After a 45minute scenic drive passing many vineyards, but of course we did not stop to sample the wine before arriving at our starting point Yungup. We walked for 5 mns along the road before turning on to the track, situated on cliff top covered in heath, with wonderful vistas of the brilliant turquoise ocean, again! we spotted whales breaching. The rocks yesterday were limestone, but today the rocks were rust colour which looked like a magnificent garden scattered with brilliant pink flowers.
Later we enjoyed a pleasant walk along Smiths Beach unlike yesterday today the sand was firm, much to our relief. There is a great coffee shop at the end of Smiths Beach, but no time to relax and enjoy., we were on a mission as we were not going to forfeit the delicious fruit cake that Emily made for morning tea, and Mike carried together with a thermos of hot water for our Neacafe.
After our survive and revive 10mns we continued along the escarpment to another lookout, then another beach walk to our lunch stop, situated at a prominent surf break, before reaching our lunch stop we had to climb a long flight of stairs. Once again lunch was delicious, fresh salads, with warps, make your own.
After lunch we still had another 8 Kim’s and 3 hours on a sand track along the escarpment, we did a detour to a small but very impressive waterfall situated in a ,magical oasis in the desert. Two Klm further on there was Emily and our vehicle ready to take us home. Wow! What a day and we get to do another section of the Cape to Cape tomorrow, can’t wait!
