We departed our hotel at 830 am by vehicle to our starting point of our trek. On arrival we were presented with a small calico bag which contained out morning tea. This morning we said goodbye to some of our group who are off to tackle the Inca Trail . We wish them luck on their 3 day hike to Machhu Picchu, where we will meet them at the Sun Gate. Today was our free day in Cuzco, first stop Jack’s for a cappuccino then it was a shopping spree.Wandering through this lovely city, exploring the astonishing narrow streets of this tile roof colonial town will be your unforgettable experience. We found something astounding at every turn. Great buys are the traditional Peruvian handicrafts, alpaca-wool sweaters and rugs, ponchos, pottery, gold [….]

Unfortunately there is very little to describe about this day except that it took 13 hours from Puno to Cuzco. Normally the trip takes around 8 hours with 3 stops at some interesting places but due to a road strike on the Puno side of the border we had to take an alternative route to enable us to get to [….]

We departed out hotel by electric bikes at 730am it was bitterly cold during the 10 minute ride to the wharf where our boat was waiting. The boat excursion to Uros and Taquile Islands on Lake Titikaka. This full day excursion took us to the highest navigable lake in the world to the floating islands of the Uros Indians, man-made [….]

Today we visited the amazing Canyon del Colca it is a 2 hour drive on unsealed road through a very strong earthquake prone area and during one stage on our journey we passed through a 400 mtr tunnel. Great news the girls are on the way! Buenos Aires airport is now open and all flights are on schedule. Today we will enjoy a guided tour of the more important and characteristic parts of Lima: the Monumental Center, where we will admire the colonial architecture of the Main Square (Plaza Mayor), the Government Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop Palace, [….]

So far it has been an eventful journey and it is only day 2. We departed Sydney to Santiago on Lan/Qantas via New Zealand. Two and half hours to New Zealand 1 hour stopover, 14 hours to Santiago missed our connection due to late departure form Sydney waited 7 hours at Santiago airport, but managed to get a room at [….]

Well it is nearly time to depart for Sth America I cannot beleive that I am ready to go tomorrow, it has been a quick turn a round of 3 weeks between tours, just enough time to unpack and repack. I am so lookiing forward to introducing my group to my Andean friends and their fascinating culutre. Stay posted !!
