Welcome to Tibet, before landing in Lhasa we caught fantastic panoramic views of snow capped peaks. On arrival we were met by our guide Basang who greeted us with a white scarf called a Kada – in Tibet traditional way which brings you good luck. The next 2 days were spend acclimitising to the high altituded of Lhasa. We visited the awe inspiring Potala Palace built in 637 AD by Songsten GAmpo. It was the former winter residence of the Dalai Lamas and is truly a spelendor of Eastern architecture,. Next, visit the Johkang Temple the centre of Tibetan Buddhism also bult in the 7th and the summer palace Norbalinka, finishing the day in Barkhor square where we tested our skills at bartering with the locals.
From Lhasa we headed by 2 4 wheel drive vehicles to Tsetang visiting the Samy Monastery and Yarlung Valley known as the cradle of Tibetan civilization. Tsedang is the junction of the Narlung and Tsangpo.
