Nepal: The Himalayan Adventure

Thursday 31st March 6 adventurous women set out on Thai Airways flight to Nepal the tiny Himalayan country wedged between India and China. One overnight in Bangkok and the following day we then boarded our Thai flight to Kathmandu duration time 3 hours 15 minutes. Approaching Nepal the weather was clear and we glimpsed Everest standing at an awesome 8840 mtrs. On arrival we were greeted with the friendly faces of our Nepalese staff and then ushered to our waiting vehicle for the 45 minute to drive Bhaktapur and our first night in Nepal. The city of Bhaktapur has amazing array architecture dating back to 15th and 16th century. Our very knowledgeable guide explained the history of Bhaktapur and took us all the famous sites as well as tanka school where the ladies bought some beautiful pieces of art. Our first day in Nepal will be remembered by us all.

Friday 1st April Today we are off to Nargakot a hill station situated at 2200 mtrs and famous for magnificent sunrises and sunsets over the Himalaya ranges. We drove through stunning country side to our drop off point from there we walked for 2-/12 hours through quaint villages and farms learning from our guide about the Nepalese farming and culture.

Saturday/Sunday 2nd and 3rd Up at 6am for our first sunrise and views of the mountains, breakfast and then we returned to Kathmandu via Bhaktapur to Pasapatinath, Nepal’s Hindu cremation grounds. The ladies found Pasapatinath one of the most interesting places they have visited, at the time there were approximately 5-6 bodies being cremated very different to when I was there in October and November there were very few cremations at that time. Chitwan was our next point of call which was a 20 minute flight and short drive to our Resort for the next 2 nights. During our stay we rode on elephants saw many rhinos with their young as well as, spotted deer, jackel, crocodile, monkeys, many species of bird life and a visit to the elephant breeding camp where we saw the twin male elephants which are now 16months old – so cute!!

Monday 4th Sadly today we leave Chitwan and our 4 hour drive to Pokhara, we are all excited as Pokhara is the starting point of all Annapurna treks and of course my favorite mountain Fishtail.
On arrival at our hotel a sumtuous lunch of dhaal bhat was waiting for us. The girls are off shopping and have a relaxing massage.

Keep an eye out for this blog as photos will be put up soon
